Not all of us can afford to miss certain types of meals, and do exercise regularly.
1. Inquire about the program’s action plans. Does it provide counseling before you start any of their sessions? You need to check this in order to get a fair idea about their dietary advice. A good weight loss program should provide you advice regarding the necessary modifications that are needed in your daily dietary schedule, and eating habits.
2. The program’s health team should consist of qualified counselors and other staff members, like nutritionists, doctors, registered dietitians, nurses, exercise physiologists etc.
3. The program that you choose should present you its action plan clearly. For example, they should tell you how the whole process will take place, and whether the weight loss goals are short-term or long-term.
4. The health counselor should give importance to your likes and dislikes about specific foods, and should advice you regarding their intake in the very beginning. Ideally, they should provide you with flexible diet plans than the strict ones, which can be hard to follow in the end.
5. A good weight loss program should provide you with options in circumstances when you are unable to follow their plan, i.e. the whole plan should be flexible one, and based entirely upon your ability to follow it. If you feel uncomfortable about anything, you should talk about that to your weight loss consultant.
Few other things to keep in mind are:
1. Check the percentage of people completing that weight loss program, and inquire about their average weight loss.
2. Check to see if any of the participants have developed any side effects, and what percentage of them developed those.
3. Ask about the additional or hidden fees if any before joining any program, i.e. on dietary supplements provided whenever their need arises.
The options are many, and it entirely depends upon your preferences to choose a weight loss program. Remember, not all of those weight loss programs that worked for someone can work for you too. You should try to find a program that suits your needs the best, rather than going for the one claiming to be the best. And, preferrably, never say diet!
