There are very few people who do not love food. Rest all love it in one way or the other. However, when this love increases to an extent so as to cause you frequent “cravings” for your favorite food, you need to watch out your habits, else this will result in an unwanted gain in weight!

Here are some tips to conquer your cravings, which in turn will help you in weight loss too.

pizza Conquer Your Cravings

1. Try eating small servings of food at short intervals. Binge eating often results in repeated cravings when you see your favorite food around. This happens because our normal stomach emptying time is 2.5-3 hours, and after this period is over , we start feeling hungry again. If you already have developed those cravings, your hunger will increase immensely during this period leading to the next round of binge eating! Therefore, take small bouts of food after 2.5-3 hours or whenever you feel hungry again.

This technique ensures you to be under control and your cravings to diminish after each meal. It will also avoid the weight problems later on.

2. Second effective method to conquer your cravings is to condition yourself with some aversive stimuli. It is in fact, a psychological method of training your brain. The food item for which you have cravings should be replaced by some less tasty or even bitter item. Whenever you feel hungry take the other food item instead of your favorite one. With time you will develop a general aversion for your favorite food.

However, for a more practical approach to this technique, your partner should work for bringing/giving you the aversive item. It might look odd at first, but you will notice the difference yourself.

I eat 5-7 times a day and no longer find myself craving food. It is much more satisfying having small snacks throughout the day than stuffing your face with unhealthy food!
