1. If you really can’t eat a sandwich made without mayonnaise, cut the amount to half by spreading it on one slice of bread only. And remember that many moist fillings, such as tuna salad, are made with mayonnaise. So, this way would be better for cutting down mayonnaise consumption for mayo fans, rather than totally taking it out of your diet.

2. Try mustard or ketchup in your sandwich instead of your mayonnaise. They have much fewer calories, only 15 per level teaspoon, and no fat.
3. Salad dressings made with mayonnaise are laden with calories and fat. Lemon juice sparks up a fresh salad and adds neither fats nor calories. Low-fat yogurt dressings with herbs are also healthier alternatives.
4. When you must have the luxury of mayonnaise, temper the damage by mixing it half and half with low-fat plain yogurt or buttermilk.
5. Substitute half the amount of mayonnaise with nonfat cottage cheese, whipped in a blender for a creamy consistency.
