in Diet And Health

If you have not been eating a vegetarian diet for years, and want to make the shift, it is best to do so gradually, in stages. It is a nice way to start following your vegetarian dietary schedule by eliminating red meat from your diet as well as substituting fish and poultry too with the appropriate vegetarian diet. While it is not about eating more vegetarian or converting in vegetarianism, you’re at least eliminating the biggest offender in disease-enhancing foods, which is- red meat.

After you have had success with the elimination of once your favorite red meat from your diet, then start reducing the amount of poultry foods/products you eat. chicken Eliminate Poultry From DietAlthough poultry products are not as bad for your health as is red meat (that’s because it contains lesser amount of fat as compared to the red meat) it is still a form of meat (animal meat in particular), which has been produced in farms under various terrible, cramped and most probably inhumane conditions (we all know that..don’t we?). Poultry is all laden with growth hormones and antibiotics these days. Chickens are raised in terrible conditions, they are usually overfed for getting more meat, and then are slaughtered. In the grand scheme of things, it’s just as detrimental to our physical and spiritual health as eating red meat. You can easily eliminate poultry from your diet too, because we all know that it is just like eating wood pulp, it is so tasteless, it is not nutrient rich..believe it or not, we all need to face this fact that the poultry we eat doesn’t ensure good nutrient supply to our body as it is all full of synthetic products and so many antibiotics, hormones. Moreover, these unwanted additives can also lead to various health problems.

If you are still not ready to add pulses, legumes and other vegetarian food to your diet in place of poultry food, try adding more of fish and sea food. Although the sea food also carries some risk as it may contain mercury in significant amounts, so as to harm our health, however, it is a far safer choice than eating hormone studded and antibiotic rich poultry. This may be as far as you ever get in moving towards vegetarianism, or at least eliminating meat from your diet. Give yourself time to get used to this. Even when you can not spend a minute without poultry, try spending time without eating it. Sooner or later, you will be able to get rid of this “habit”. We often prefer eating chicken or chicken breasts (or both) because they contain lesser fat and calories, but it you should not forget that it is also lower in any kind of nutritional value. When we do not get essential proteins and vitamins, we still starve our bodies of those nutrients, regardless of how healthy we think we are trying to be. Eliminating poultry is one of the most positive steps you can take towards a healthy diet and a healthy planet.
