Chewing gums that contain xylitol in them are reported to have resulted in decreased bacterial load. Chew the gum sweetened with xylitol for at least 5 minutes within 5 minutes after finishing a meal. It has been shown to help in countering the harmful bacteria in your mouth, which promote cavities.
